WE
NEED ACTIONS NOT SPEECHES
TO
HELP BUILD A QUALITY COMMUNITY IN PNG
Thursday, 30th June 2005 –
In response to the latest outburst by the Morobe Governor Luther
Wenge the PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PNGCCI) supports his
right to free speech but this also requires responsibility and the
present statement is at least unhelpful.
Yes,
Papua New Guinea does have problems but we need actions not
speeches. We need partnerships between the Government and the
community with positive and constructive suggestions and actions to
create jobs, address infrastructure problems, tackle law and order
issues, to ensure that the community have a better life style.
The
National Government is not perfect but they are achieving outcomes.
We would like to see more but let us do things in a constructive not
destructive way as nobody wins.
The
PNGCCI feels that at this stage the PNG does need a helping hand to
address the declining living standards, health and education issues,
and law and order problems.
We
look forward to the Governors positive response in showing us the
way forward so that the PNG can live within its means and not rely
on aid and other unwelcome benefits.
